"Of all the modes of transport available in Myanmar, this must be the most
serene and picturesque"
Traveller, Thailand & Indochina Traveller Magazine, April/May 2001
"..we were away, soaring quickly above the trees and drifting on a light breeze
over the little village and through plumes of smoke from the kitchen fires. As we climbed, the plain emerged flat and criss-crossed with ancient pathways showing up like scars in the grey light. To the East, the glimmer on the horizon became a pink glow and, while we watched, the sun burst free above the distant hills, bathing the landscape with gold and laying out before us, like a massive chess board, the 2,142 temples and pagodas of Bagan ! watched, amazed, as we drifted silently over forests of glittering stupas set in the lasnscape of scrub and sand. People walking out to work in the dry fields or swaying along in bullock carts, looked up and waved as we glided by; conversations from distant villages drifted up, magnified in the morning air. We sailed within feet of pinnacles inlaid with jade, scraped the tops of tamarind trees or floated on thermals as buzzards circled contemptuously above us.

As the sun began to rise, we came upon a distant green oasis, like a mirage in the heat. We could see shimmering trees and green pastures with the peaks of temples poking through the forest roof. From a distance, it looked like some mystic nirvana tucked away in a fold of the dusty landscape. The breeze was pushing the balloon slowly towards it and after a while, we were floating over a golf course.
